My family and I came from out of town and we decided to grab a quick meal to give us plenty of time to make it tan appointment. Since we have been to a bunch of other Nekter Juice bars in Orange County as well as up in Northern California we were glad to find one nearby.
Surprised to see only one employee working, but since there was only one other customer in front of us, we decided to order. We ordered two bowls and a shot. The employee seemed a bit frazzled and apologized because she was still learning the system, which seemed odd that she would be the only employee during the morning/early afternoon shift. She said it would be about 10-15 minutes because she also needed to wash out the blenders. I said that was fine as long as it wasn't longer because we had an appointment.
We went next door to grab some boba drinks and about 15 minutes later went back into Nekter to grab our orders, except the orders were not ready yet. We sat down in the cramped seating area, and after about another 5 minutes I asked the employee if our order was ready. She said the shot was ready, but she was still getting everything for the bowls (so with 20 minutes gone by, a shot was done, but the bowls weren't started yet). However, I noticed another customer, who came in after us received a smoothie. I'm assuming it was a mobile order, but was still wondering why our order was not made, if we were already there in the shop waiting. At this point another employee enters from the back.
This apparently is the manager. No apologies about the wait, instead she goes towards the back stock room again rather than help the new employee. I ask to speak with her and tell her how ridiculous it is that only one brand new employee is left at the store during the morning to handle everything. All the manager says is that we had a larger crowd of customers than normal? Larger? So like 3-4 orders within 30 minutes is too much for the store to handle? At this point I wanted my money back, I had not received my bowls yet. All the manager offered was a free bowl the next time as the other employee handed us the two bowls finally (40 minutes later and one had peanut butter instead of the almond butter requested).
I am not normally one to complain at this level, but I felt horrible for the brand new employee being thrown in to handle everything because of an incompetent manager as well as the Nekter brand suffering because this store lacks in so many ways compared to my usual juice bar. Thanks for nothing, thanks for the subpar bowls, and thanks for making me late to my appointment.
